Cricket fans will descend on the SCG decked in pink today to celebrate the 15th annual Jane McGrath Day and raise funds for the McGrath Foundation at the NRMA Insurance Pink Test.

Since 2009, Jane McGrath Day has grown to represent an emblem of hope where people across the country unite in pink to support the 57 people diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia every day while raising funds for McGrath Breast Care Nurses, which are Jane’s greatest legacy.

In recognition of the pink milestone, the McGrath Foundation is calling on Australia to help make this Jane McGrath Day and Pink Test one to remember. Having initially set a goal to sell 150,000 Virtual Pink Seats, due to popular demand, they have rebuilt their virtual stadium with 300,000 Virtual Pink Seats. If all these seats are sold, 4,200 families will have the free support of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse this year.

For the first time since 2020, McGrath Foundation Co-Founder & President Glenn McGrath was back at the SCG and said it was fantastic to see fans enjoying the atmosphere in pink once again, ready to create more memories.

“This is the 15th Jane McGrath Day and it’s incredible to think back to where this all began when cricket first turned pink.

“Every Pink Test is special, and each year we are blown away by the support of the Australian public. Unfortunately, breast cancer is the most diagnosed cancer in Australian women and it’s our mission to ensure that no one with breast cancer misses out on the care of a breast care nurse. This year it’s been so great to see Australia get behind us to make it a Pink Test to remember by ensuring families have the free care and support they need,” McGrath continued.

McGrath Foundation Ambassador & Director, Tracy Bevan said Jane McGrath Day gives people an opportunity to honour and acknowledge those experiencing breast cancer.

“Jane McGrath Day is such a special day. We get to remember Jane and the incredible person she was, but it also encourages us to remember those around us that are going through breast cancer and think about how we can support them.

“It makes me incredibly proud to see how the community is getting behind the Virtual Pink Seats. They’ve come to represent more than just a virtual seat, it’s a way to recognise the people in your life that may be experiencing breast cancer. The messages of support, thanks and memories that are shared along with the seats shows what this moment means to so many people,” Bevan continued.

As the Jane McGrath Day celebrations get underway, McGrath Foundation CEO Holly Masters said what’s been created on Jane McGrath Day and the 15th Pink Test is an example of true partnership.

“Jane McGrath Day is one of the best examples of the community, partners and a charity coming together to make a real difference. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us, as well as our partners Cricket Australia and the SCG who have helped make the NRMA Insurance Pink Test one of the biggest charitable sporting events in the world.”

To help the McGrath Foundation make this Pink Test one to remember you can purchase Virtual Pink Seats for $20 each at pinktest.com.au and share it with your story across your socials. If you’re at the SCG you can make a donation to receive a limited-edition NRMA Insurance Pink Test bandana.
