In an explosion of colour, the SCG will turn pink today for the 14th annual Jane McGrath Day at the Vodafone Pink Test to raise funds for the McGrath Foundation. Jane McGrath Day celebrates Jane’s legacy and raises funds for McGrath Breast Care Nurses to support individuals and families going through breast cancer.
Now in it’s 14th year, the McGrath Foundation, Cricket Australia and the Sydney Cricket Ground have again come together to raise money to fund McGrath Breast Care Nurses in communities across Australia.
This year, the McGrath Foundation has built a virtual stadium with 240,000 Virtual Pink Seats, in the hope of making this the ‘pinkest’ Ashes. Leading into Jane McGrath Day, more than 100,000 Virtual Pink Seats had been sold. The campaign allows everyone, no matter whether they’re watching from the ground, at home or overseas to come together in support of people with breast cancer.
McGrath Foundation Co-founder & President, Glenn McGrath said, “Our mission is to ensure no one goes through breast cancer without the care of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse and the incredible support shown for the Pink Test and the Virtual Pink Seats is helping us towards that goal.
“We want to say thank you so much to everyone who supports the McGrath Foundation. With 55 people diagnosed with breast cancer in Australia each day, every Virtual Pink Seat sold is making a huge difference to people impacted by the disease.”

“We also want to say a huge thank you to our partners Cricket Australia and the SCG who have helped make the Vodafone Ashes Pink Test one of the biggest charitable sporting events in the world.”
With Glenn McGrath unable to make the celebrations in person, the McGrath Foundation will have a special guest thanks to Madame Tussauds Sydney.
“We’re obviously very disappointed that Glenn can’t be with us today, but our friends at Madame Tussauds Sydney have helped ensure he still has a presence with us on Jane McGrath Day by bringing “Wax Glenn” out for the day. For that, we say thank you!” McGrath Foundation CEO Holly Masters said.
“Wax Glenn is very excited about his big day out,” said a spokesperson for Madame Tussauds.
McGrath Foundation Ambassador and Director, Tracy Bevan said Jane McGrath Day is always special, but this year is especially poignant.
“Every Jane McGrath Day is special, but this year is even more so, because today I get to sit next to my best friend Jane again, thanks to the Virtual Pink Seat campaign. For years, Jane and I would sit together in the stands to watch our boys play cricket. Today, we get to do it again.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the legacy that Jane has left behind. Seeing our virtual stadium filled with pink seats highlights the incredible support that Australia shows for Jane’s vision and the McGrath Foundation. It makes me so emotional and proud. Thank you to everyone who continues to support our incredible McGrath Breast Care Nurses.”
