Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Marketing and Communications, in this role you will be responsible for developing, coordinating and directing government relations, public policy and infrastructure activity for Cricket Australia, and you will lead a nationwide Government Relations and Infrastructure team.

About The Role

Operating in a senior leadership capacity, the Head of Government Relations and Infrastructure will play an integral role in promoting and driving strategic organisational objectives that will maximise the long-term sustainable growth and revenue of Cricket Australia.

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For

  • Providing organisation wide strategic and operational leadership;
  • Developing and executing Cricket’s national government relations strategy, national infrastructure framework and state-based government relations strategies;
  • Developing contacts and relationships with the Australian Government, State and Territory Governments and local governments across Australia;
  • Developing and leading Cricket Australia’s government engagement program to enable delivery of COVID-safe cricket content across Australia;
  • Identifying and analysing federal, state and local government/sports issues across Australia and direct cricket’s public policy advocacy to governments;
  • Managing the planning and delivery of the infrastructure and facilities needed to support growing the game across Australia, including managing the expenditure and project delivery from the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund and;
  • Leading the development of high quality communications and public affairs strategies with our government stakeholders to drive continued improvement to Cricket’s profile with all government stakeholders.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Experience working in government at state or national level, or in government relations within the sports industry or in other sectors.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Robust relationship building skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Efficient problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage concurrent complex tasks.
  • Knowledge and experience in strategic planning.
  • Exceptional work ethic including the ability to multi-task, prioritise work commitments and deadlines, whilst maintaining a close attention to detail.
