About The Role

This is an exciting new role which has been created following a restructure within our Legal Team. We’re open to both part-time and full-time applications.

We’re looking for a conscientious lawyer to support the Legal Team in driving change, reducing risk, and improving commercial outcomes. If you consider yourself a big picture thinker, whilst still having sound legal foundations, we want to hear from you. We have big ambitions as a team, so we’re looking for drive, passion, and energy to bring our plans to life.

Reporting to the Special Counsel – Strategic Projects, you’ll be responsible for:

  • advising on, and guiding, special projects and initiatives across CA from a legal perspective;
  • assisting with the negotiation, drafting and reviewing of agreements affecting CA including venue hire agreements and services and supply agreements;
  • identifying areas of innovations, efficiencies, and risks in the delivery of legal services across the business;
  • applying strategic thinking to identify legal risks in existing structures and processes across CA more broadly; and
  • a ssisting the broader Legal team with overflows as and when required.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Admission to practice as an Australian lawyer
  • 18+ months post qualification experience in a law firm and/or in-house
  • Demonstrated experience in using initiative to identify areas for improvement, and implement change
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise tasks and goals based on highest value/risk/urgency
  • A strong commercial mindset that can look around corners, ask the right questions, and challenge the status quo
  • Ability to build positive stakeholder relationships
  • Strong analytical and drafting skills, including experience with commercial contracts

Although not essential, the following experience will be highly regarded:

  • Commercial secondment or in-house experience
  • Experience in privacy, technology and/or data regulation
  • Experience in compliance, project or risk management and/or legal operations
  • Experience with sporting or events organisations or commercial rights holders
  • Relevant post graduate studies
