ABOUT THE ROLE

The Match Officials Manager is responsible for leading and managing Cricket Australia’s elite match officials’ team. The role is responsible for fostering a high-performance team culture and environment that ensures Australia continues to produce the best and most respected match officials in the world.

We’re looking for someone who has demonstrated experience leading and managing high performing teams, with knowledge of cricket’s rules and regulations.. If you consider yourself someone who possesses highly developed interpersonal skills and composure under pressure, we want to hear from you. We have big ambitions for this space, so we’re looking for drive, passion, and energy to bring our plans to life.

Reporting to the Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage the Match Officials function and Match Official staff that are employed and contracted to Cricket Australia
  • Drive a high-performance team culture and environment that seeks to consistently raise the performance standards of Australia’s national and international cricket umpires.
  • Ensure that the Match Referees execute their duties and that CA competition matches are always conducted professionally.
  • Ensure that the assessment, selection and appointment of umpires to Cricket Australia’s umpire panels and competitions is fair, meticulous and lawful at all times.
  • Provide support and guidance to the Chairman of Selectors, Coaches and Match Referee Manager on all aspects of their roles.
  • Stakeholder management and system leadership, across the ICC, National Umpire Panels and State and Territory Associations
  • Oversee the efficient management of the Match Officials administration matters and processes, including budgeting

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Demonstrated leadership strength, with experience leading high performing teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management and relationship building
  • Solid knowledge of cricket’s rules and regulations
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Proven ability to work autonomously

This role will require a willingness and readiness to travel, albeit infrequently.

There is a preference for the role to be based in Melbourne, but other locations may be considered.
