Cricket Australia: The Qualifier Final details confirmed

Cricket Australia (CA), formerly the Australian Cricket Board (ACB), is the governing body for cricket in Australia. Established in 1905 as the Australian Board of Control for International Cricket, CA manages all national teams, including Men's, Women's, and Youth sides, as well as other national teams. It oversees the organization of Test matches, ODIs, and T20Is, and coordinates home international fixtures.

The Perth Scorchers are the first team to lock in a home KFC BBL|12 Finals match and will host the Sydney Sixers in The Qualifier at Optus Stadium next Saturday, January 28 at 4:15pm AWST/7:15pm AEDT. 

The Scorchers cemented top position on the ladder with tonight’s win over the Melbourne Renegades, earning them the right to host The Qualifier. Their opponents, the Sydney Sixers, are unable to be surpassed in second place.  

The winner of The Qualifier will earn hosting rights for the KFC BBL|12 Final on Saturday, February 4 while the loser will receive a second chance to progress to The Final via The Challenger on Thursday, February 2.  

With four games remaining of the KFC BBL|12 regular season, the three remaining finals spots are still to be determined. Each of the Melbourne Renegades, Brisbane Heat, Sydney Thunder, Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers remain in contention.  

The full schedule for week one of the KFC BBL|12 Final series will be announced Wednesday January 25, following the conclusion of the last regular season game.  

Tickets to all matches will be on sale at cricket.com.au/tickets on Thursday, January 26 from 1pm AWST/4pm AEDT. Home club members will be given access to an exclusive pre-sale from 10am AWST/1pm AEDT. 

Every Finals match will be broadcast live on Seven, Foxtel, Kayo Sports and SEN.

The first three KFC BBL|12 Finals series matches are: 

  • Friday, January 27: ‘The Eliminator’, 4th v 5th, location TBC, 7:15pm AEDT
  • Saturday, January 28: ‘The Qualifier’, Perth Scorchers v Sydney Sixers, Optus Stadium, 4:15pm AWST/7:15pm AEDT
  • Sunday, January 29: ‘The Knockout’, 3rd v winner of The Eliminator, location TBC, 7:15pm AEDT
