Cricket Australia and the South Australian Cricket Association have paid tribute to former Australian and South Australian cricketer Wendy Blunsden, who passed away earlier this month aged 77.

Born in Adelaide, South Australia in 1942, Blunsden played seven Tests and eight One-Day Internationals for Australia.

She made her Test debut against New Zealand in 1972 and played her last match for Australia in 1976; an ODI against England in Nottingham.

A natural leader and all-rounder, Blunsden captained Australia in one Test and led her native South Australia from 1969-1974.

Nick Hockley, CA’s Interim Chief Executive, said:

“We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Wendy and are truly appreciative of the contribution she made to cricket over the course of her career.

“Our thoughts go out to her family and all the friends she made throughout her time in the game.

“On behalf of the Australian Cricket community we send our condolences to the Blunsden family. She will be dearly missed.”
