Weber and the Women’s Big Bash League will continue bringing families together this summer and beyond, following a two-year extension to their naming rights partnership.
Weber, the world’s leading barbecue manufacturer, and the WBBL have built a formidable partnership since 2021. Together, the two have driven authentic connections by encouraging Australians to gather around the barbecue or at the game to enjoy summer, food and cricket.
As the League approaches its milestone Season 10, Weber and the WBBL will further strengthen ties by elevating these shared experiences at matchdays – including Weber’s presence at marquee fixtures – and in the backyard.
As the world’s leading cricket league for women, the WBBL is also proud to work with Weber to continue changing perceptions about the role of women at home and in sport.
Renowned internationally for its innovation and products, Weber was established in Chicago in 1952, first appearing in Australia in 1978.
Weber’s connection to cricket pre-dates its partnership with the WBBL – Fiona McDonald, the daughter of Weber’s Australia and New Zealand founder Ross McDonald and brother of Managing Director Michael McDonald, made 35 WNCL appearances for South Australia.
Michael McDonald, Weber Barbecues Managing Director, Asia Pacific, said:
“Weber is proud to confirm a two-year extension to our naming rights partnership with the WBBL.
“Weber and the WBBL create amazing memories through a shared love of summer, family, the outdoors, food, and cricket.
“As the WBBL enters its milestone tenth season, we are excited to partner with a globally recognised leader to continue driving the game forward and changing perceptions about the role of women in sport.”
Margot Harley, Cricket Australia’s Head of Competition Development & Strategy, W/BBL, said:
“The WBBL is proud to continue our partnership with Weber, a globally recognised innovation leader, for a further two years.
“Since 2021, our brands have enabled Australians to forge strong connections through our shared love of summer, family, food, fun and cricket.
“This has allowed both Weber and the WBBL to harness our collective strength and be at the forefront of positive change for women at home and in sport.
“We look forward to working closely with Weber as we approach our milestone tenth season and beyond.”
