The batting lineup includes six of the top seven run-scorers in this year’s competition, headlined by the WBBL|10 BKT Golden Bat winner Ellyse Perry (424 runs), the new record holder for the highest individual innings in League history, Lizelle Lee (150 not out) and the competition’s all-time leading run-scorer, Beth Mooney (5051 runs).
It is the ninth time in 10 seasons that Mooney has earned Team of the Tournament selection, while Perry makes her sixth appearance in the side.
Among the bowlers are this season’s top three wicket-takers, BKT Golden Arm winner Alana King (20 wickets), Samantha Bates (19 wickets) and Sophie Molineux (15 wickets), and WBBL|10 Young Gun winner Chloe Ainsworth.
Three international players feature, with South African wicket-keeper batter Lee joined by West Indies all-rounder Hayley Matthews and former India fast bowler Shikha Pandey.
After leading the Melbourne Renegades to first place in the home and away season and hosting rights for the Weber WBBL|10 Final, Molineux captains the Team of the Tournament for the first time.
The WBBL Team of the Decade will be named on Thursday.
Alistair Dobson, Cricket Australia’s Executive General Manager, Big Bash Leagues, said:
“The tenth Weber WBBL Team of the Tournament fittingly includes a combination of all-time greats, experienced and consistent performers, and new faces from Australia and overseas.
“There are few superlatives appropriate for the feats of Beth Mooney and Ellyse Perry throughout WBBL history, but we are equally pleased to recognise new players for their performances this season.
“Our congratulations go to all players selected, including the seven first-time players in the merit side, and first-time captain Sophie Molineux.
“We also thank all eight WBBL head coaches for their efforts in selecting this team.”
