Must Read

Joel Morrison, Executive General Manager of Events and Operations at Cricket Australia, highlighted the immense anticipation surrounding the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series between India and Australia, citing strong ticket sales as evidence of the high level of interest.

The series is set to begin on November 22, with the first Test taking place in Perth. In a Cricket Australia press release, Morrison was quoted as saying: “The Border Gavaskar series is a highly anticipated event and current ticket sales demonstrate there is enormous interest in the upcoming contest between Australia and India.”

“Tickets are selling fast for all five Tests as excitement continues to build for the summer ahead, so we are encouraging fans to buy tickets now to ensure they don’t miss out on any of the action.”

“We also continue to see strong sales from Indian fans as well as Australian fans, presenting a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the enduring connection between our two countries both on and off the field, with a large contingent of travelling fans expected to attend Tests across the summer,” he concluded.

Cricket Australia has reported record-breaking sales for the upcoming Boxing Day Test, with Day 1 ticket sales tripling those from the same period in 2018/19. Sales for days 2-4 have also surged, showing a 5.5-fold increase compared to India’s last pre-COVID tour.

Notably, there has been a significant rise in interest from Indian tourists, with 3.9% of current ticket buyers for the Boxing Day Test coming from India, up from 0.7% in 2018/19. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy series promises to be a memorable experience for cricket fans, as the top-ranked men’s Test teams face off in a five-match showdown.

The series begins with the second Test, a day-night match under the lights at Adelaide Oval from December 6-10, followed by the third Test at The Gabba in Brisbane from December 14-18. The traditional Boxing Day Test will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground from December 26-30, with the series concluding at the Sydney Cricket Ground from January 3-7, ensuring a thrilling end to the contest.
