Canada’s National Men’s cricket team will be traveling to Sri Lanka for a March 3 – 22, 19 day tour in preparation for its participation in the forthcoming Namibia hosted ICC 2023 World Cup Qualifier Play-Off. The Canadian National Selectors have announced a sixteen-member squad for the Sri Lanka tour from which the final fourteen players to head on to Namibia will be chosen.
The announced sixteen-member Canadian National Men’s Sri Lanka Tour squad is as follows:
Saad Bin Zafar (Captain), Navneet Dhaliwal, Nikhil Dutta, Jeremy Gordon, Dilon Heyliger, Aaron Johnson, Ammar Khalid, Nicholas Kirton, Parveen Kumar, Shreyas Movva, Kaleem Sana, Pargat Singh, Ravinderpal Singh, Matthew Spoors, Harsh Thaker and Srimantha Wijeyeratne.
Alphonso Franco will manage the squad. It will also be accompanied by a coaching staff consisting of recently appointed Canadian National Head Coach Pubudu Dassanayake with Abhishek Sharma as his Assistant and Ankar Sharma as the Trainer.
The Saad Bin Zafar-led Canadians will play four 50 Over matches against a Sri Lanka Development Team during their stay on the sub-continental island. At the conclusion of the Sri Lanka preparation tour the fourteen-member squad for the
Namibia 2023 Qualifier Play-Off will be chosen. The March 24 – April 6.
Namibia Qualifier Play-Off will serve as the penultimate stage of the qualification process for ICC 2023 World Cup participation. The top two teams from the Namibia tournament will progress to the final Qualifier to be held in Zimbabwe this coming August.
