Cricket Hong Kong, China squads announced for ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2024

Cricket Hong Kong, formerly known as the Hong Kong Cricket Association, is the governing body for cricket in Hong Kong. Established in 1968, it is headquartered in So Kon Po, Causeway Bay. An associate member of the ICC since 1969, Cricket Hong Kong also belongs to the Asian Cricket Council.

Cricket Hong Kong, China selectors have announced the squad for the upcoming ACC Men’s Premier Cup 2024, which will be held in Oman between 12th April to 21st April 2024.

The tournament is the qualifier for Asia Cup T20 to be held in 2025. The ACC Men’s Premier Cup will see 10 teams competing each other to fight for the one spot in the ACC Men’s Asia Cup. Hong Kong, China has been drawn in Group A alongside Nepal, Malaysia, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. The top two finishers of each group will qualify to the semi-finals, while the top three finishers of the tournament will be eligible to play in the ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup and the winner of the tournament will qualify for the Asia Cup in 2025.

The team will be travelling on 31st March for a three T20 matches against UAE before heading to Oman for the ACC Men’s Premier Cup.

Simon Willis, Head coach of the Hong Kong, China men’s team said, “The team has been playing a lot of T20I cricket since February. We are looking forward to play in the ACC Premier Cup and the boys are ready to once again qualify for the Asia Cup.”

Captain Nizakat Khan and Vice-Captain Yasim Murtaza will be leading the 14-players squad. Adit Gorawara will return to the team while Raunaq Kapur is set to make his T20I debut for Hong Kong, China.

Nizakat Khan, Captain of the Hong Kong, China men’s team said, “We played Nepal and Qatar recently in the Hong Kong Men’s T20I Series and the Qatar Bilateral Series and we know how tough these opponents can be. The boys have been working extremely hard to prepare for the tournament and we are looking to demonstrate our skills against other associate countries. We will arrive in Oman with full confidence and hopefully can deliver something special for our fans and supporters.”
