Cricket Ireland, officially known as The Irish Cricket Union Company Limited by Guarantee, is the governing body for cricket on the island of Ireland. It oversees the national men's and women's teams and organizes the Inter-Provincial Series, Super 3s, and All-Ireland club competitions. Ireland achieved Test status for women in 2000 and for men in 2017 when it became a Full Member of the ICC.

Cricket Ireland, Northern Cricket Union and North West Cricket Union have welcomed the NI Executive’s announcement that spectators can now attend outdoor sports events.

This is positive news for cricket clubs, and will bring a further element of normality back to our sport.

However, as we head into the weekend, the three governing bodies advise all cricket clubs to continue to:

• adhere to the important safe return-to-play protocols;

• comply with contact tracing requirements, which should now include collecting details of spectators visiting club venues; and

• manage the number of spectators in a way that ensures social distancing can be maintained within their club venue at all times (currently two metres in NI).

We all need to continue to minimise the risk of coronavirus in our communities, and ensure that we can enjoy cricket again while keeping our players, match officials, volunteers, families and the wider community healthy.

Stay safe and enjoy the cricket.
