Cricket Ireland: Lord’s Taverners Ireland logo to feature at ICC Men’s U19 World Cup

Cricket Ireland, officially known as The Irish Cricket Union Company Limited by Guarantee, is the governing body for cricket on the island of Ireland. It oversees the national men's and women's teams and organizes the Inter-Provincial Series, Super 3s, and All-Ireland club competitions. Ireland achieved Test status for women in 2000 and for men in 2017 when it became a Full Member of the ICC.

As a show of support for its official charity partner, Cricket Ireland has announced that the Lord’s Taverners Ireland logo will appear on the sleeve of the Ireland Under-19s Men’s playing shirt throughout the upcoming ICC Men’s U19 Cricket World Cup – the first official warm-up match against Zimbabwe Under-19s starts on Sunday 14 January. 

Lord’s Taverners Ireland – Cricket Ireland’s charity partner since May 2023 – is a charity whose mission is to help young people with additional needs to participate in sports though the funding of specialist equipment for individuals and organisations, funding mini-buses for charities supporting young people with additional needs, and supporting the roll-out of Table Cricket, an inclusive programme for people of all abilities run by Cricket Leinster.

To date, Lord’s Taverners Ireland have funded 22 mini-buses for improving access and accessibility of young people with additional needs and supported 25 individuals and clubs with sports wheelchairs and adapted sports bikes.

Official Under-19 Men’s World Cup warm-ups:

  • Two warm-up matches to be announced shortly by ICC for 14 and 16 January

Under-19 Men’s World Cup – Ireland’s Group A schedule is as follows:

  • 19 January: Ireland U-19 v USA U-19; Manguang Oval, Bloemfontein.
  • 22 January: Ireland U-19 v Bangladesh U-19; Manguang Oval, Bloemfontein.
  • 25 January: Ireland U-19 v India U-19; Manguang Oval, Bloemfontein.

The top three sides from each group progress to the Super Six phase of the event, with each team carrying forward the number of points, Wins, NRR that they earned against their fellow super-six qualifying teams. The Super Six will get underway on 30 January. The top two teams from each group in the Super Six stage will then reach to the semi-finals.

The other Groups are:

  • Group B: England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland
  • Group C: Australia, Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe, and Namibia
  • Group D: Afghanistan, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Nepal.

  • The official warmups and tournament matches will be livescored through: www.icc-cricket.com
  • It is anticipated that there will be broadcast or livestream of every Irish match in the tournament – we will provide an update as soon as available.
