Cricket Ireland have today announced that six overseas players will feature in the women’s 2023 Super Series ahead of the first match of the competition on Monday

Each of the three teams in the competition have been assigned two players as follows:

TYPHOONS

  • South African Robyn Searle (Clontarf) is a batting all-rounder and returns for a second season with the Typhoons. Last year she scored 237 runs in 50-over cricket – at an average of 47.4 and took nine wickets – with a best of 4-32 against the Dragons. She also scored an incredible 143 not out from 140 balls in the final game of the 50-over season, also against the Dragons. The 25 year-old scored 24 runs and took two wickets in the T20 competition.
  • 22 year-old legspin-bowling allrounder Georgia Atkinson (Rush) hails from New Zealand. She’s played for Central Districts, alongside current Ireland international Eimear Richardson. Atkinson has flourished in her new role batting alongside White Ferns star Natalie Dodd at the top of the order for Central Districts. In January the pair broke New Zealand’s T20 opening partnership record hitting 112 against champions’ Wellington, with Atkinson bringing up her maiden half-century (50). Alongside her playing skills, Atkinson holds a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise degree and is an accredited and practicing NZC level 1 coach, currently working her way through her level 2.

SCORCHERS

  • Polly Inglis is a 26 year-old wicket-keeper batter from New Zealand. She scored back-to-back half-centuries in February for Otago in the New Zealand One-Day competition. Inglis scored 538 runs in 61 List A matches, with a best of 65 and an average of 10.76, whilst in T20’s she scored 259 in 36 matches, with a best of 45 and an average of 9.96.
  • Mary-Anne Musonda is a 31 year-old Zimbabwean international, and current National team captain. The right-hand batter made her international ODI debut against Ireland in 2021, where she scored a century (103*), as she became only the sixth woman to score a century on her ODI debut, and the first Zimbabwean Women’s cricketer to score an International century. Musonda also recently played for the Tornadoes in the 2023 Fairbreak Invitational in Hong Kong.

DRAGONS

  • Teenager Jaimie Lee Strang is an Australian wicket-keeping allrounder – right-handed batter and right-arm medium pace bowler. She’s been playing for Gold Coast Dolphins in Queensland Premier Cricket, and has played over 100 senior matches, so is very experienced despite her young age. Strang also possesses a Cricket Australia Level 1 coaching certificate. She played in the UK last summer for Leigh CC Cheshire Women’s cricket league, scoring 535 runs at an average of 26.75.
  • Bella Armstrong is a 23 year-old seam bowling allrounder from New Zealand. She is a right-arm batter and right-arm medium pace bowler. She is a former team-mate of current Ireland international Arlene Kelly at Auckland. Armstrong scored 71 runs off just 34 balls against the Central Districts in January this year.
