DUBLIN – Cricket Ireland will tomorrow host the first in a three-part web series entitled On the Front Foot, with the intention of championing Female Leaders in Sport.

The series will bring together different voices from the wider world of sport with each episode giving the audience the lived experiences of the panellists as well as discussion and a Q&A surrounding the importance of leadership and visibility for women and girls.

Ali Nolan, Women in Sport Officer for Cricket Ireland, said:

“We believe that the future sustainability of our sport will be strengthened by engaging those with experience in the wider world of sport, and have been encouraged that we have received such a positive response to the series so far. We are delighted to welcome a diverse group of female leaders and supporters of female leaders in sport to the panel, where we will look to show that equality is best achieved when we work together and support each other.”

“The first week’s guests are current Irish cricket captain, Laura Delany, Sport Ireland’s Women in Sport Committee Chair Lynne Cantwell, and Sene Naoupu, current Irish rugby international. We are also pleased that sports broadcaster and journalist Marie Crowe will act as the host for each episode which will be broadcast live and available to watch back via the Cricket Ireland website.”

Panellists will be discussing the importance of diversity and inclusion in sport, appealing to a broad audience, making positive steps off the field to make bigger ones on it, being a female voice for other females, women supporting women and learning from other sports, as well as the challenges balancing off the pitch and on the pitch sporting commitments.

The panellists for weeks two and three will be announced at the conclusion of each episode with topics for discussion including youth leadership, encouraging, training and mentoring women to be leaders, male advocacy for female sport and leaders, the importance of female leaders in bringing sport and cricket forward, and working collaboratively.

Registration is free but is required in advance.  You can register for the first episode taking place at 1 pm on Wednesday, September 9th here.
