Cricket Ireland and Italian sportswear giant, Macron – the recently announced new technical kit supplier for the national governing body – has today unveiled new men’s and women’s playing kit designs for One-Day International and T20 International cricket.

The designs represent a range of colours and symbols of Ireland, with the shirts being made from high-quality materials that provide the technical features necessary for maximum comfort and support for the athletes in their performance on the field.

A minor yet meaningful addition to the design is the ‘100 cricket ball’ motif on the sleeve edges, symbolising the 100% pride that each cricketer that pulls on the jersey feels about representing their country.

T20 International playing kit

  • The T20 International kit jersey features a graphic composed of geometric figures in three shades of green and a sublimated print design of the Celtic knot. The polo collar with a three-button closure is in navy blue, as are the sleeve edges and details on the sides and shoulders. On the sleeve trim is the cricket ball motif. On the right side of the chest, the Macron Hero is printed in white, while on the left, the side where the heart would be, the logo of Cricket Ireland is printed with a satin embroidery effect.

One-Day International playing kit

  • The One-Day International kit jersey is predominantly dark green with the polo collar and sleeve edges navy blue. The details on the sides and shoulders are gold, as are the Macron Hero and the Cricket Ireland logo, again with satin embroidery. The graphic characterising this kit is a vertical, tone-on-tone band running down the front left side, within which the Celtic knot design appears again, in a recurrent and intertwined manner. As a consistent element, the sleeve trim features the cricket ball motif.

Replica Kits and Merchandise

In a win for fans of Irish cricket, Macron’s online retail arm will make all adult and junior sizes of the new jerseys available for sale immediately from today. Visit: www.cricketireland.ie and follow the directions to the shop (alternately direct link here).  This will be followed by other Cricket Ireland branded playing and leisure products over the coming weeks – all of which will be available to purchase both online and at all home matches.

All international jerseys come in a Slim Fit and the main fabric that they are made from is Gotex, an innovative, high-performance yarn.

Richard Holdsworth, High Performance Director of Cricket Ireland said:

These new designs are both stunning and classic – they have been designed to provide our women’s and men’s players a distinct look-and-feel within the global cricket community. The designs are intended to reflect the format being played – the busier and more frenetic design for T20Is, while a more classic yet simpler style for ODIs.

“The cricket ball motif features 100 cricket balls, symbolising the 100% pride all of our players feel when pulling on the green jersey for Ireland. Pride in the jersey is not just a cliché for our senior teams, but an ingrained sense of what it means to represent their country. Each and every player within our system understands that they are ambassadors for our clubs, our country and our sport. It is this inter-connectedness of Irish cricket – from grassroots to international – that makes Ireland unique within the top tier of world cricket, and we think that is a special quality that we are literally wearing on our sleeves.
