After a few memorable months, first with the Morrisville SAMP Army team at the T10 tournament in Abu Dhabi and then the ILT20 tournament with the Mumbai Indians, cricketer has Bas de Leede (23) signed for professional cricket in the coming European summer. He goes to Durham Cricket for two years.

Bas, until recently active for Topklasser Voorburg CC, is happy with his contract: “This is a great step towards more professional cricket. Durham is competing in three competitions – four-day, one-day and T20 – where I hope to get opportunities. I am grateful to Durham for giving me this opportunity.”

De Leede, also an international for the Netherlands, will be released for the World Cup qualifiers that will be played in Zimbabwe in June and July 2023.

Bas de Leede has played 23 One Day Internationals so far in which he made 480 runs (best score 89 against Pakistan) and took nine wickets. In addition, he played 27 T20 matches. In it he made 610 runs (with a highest score of 91 not out) and took 27 wickets. He took thirteen of those wickets during the T20 World Cup in November 2022, which placed him – together with Englishman Sam Curran – in second place.

England internationals Ben Stokes, Mark Wood and Brydon Carse, among others, will become De Leede’s teammates at Durham, as will Dutch international Brandon Glover who signed for the northern county last week.
