The Dutch women’s team has qualified for the Global T20 World Cup Qualifier by beating France for the second time. Before the match, Italy could theoretically have finished level, but then the Netherlands would have had a superior net run rate.

With the fourth victory in as many matches, the Dutch team left no doubt that qualification was deserved. After a score of 18/5, France showed resilience with a total of 73, but the target did not cause any issues for the Dutch team.

On the first ball an LBW shout and on the second Mckeon caught and bowled, that was the dream start for the Netherlands. Even after that there was a coming and going of French batters. Responsible for this were the opening bowlers Iris Zwilling and Robine Rijke.

Tara Britton and Amy Seddon (26) put together a forty-run partnership for the sixth wicket. It was broken by a beautiful slip catch by Merel Dekeling off the bowling of Caroline de Lange (1-12).

France fought to 73. Robine Rijke came off the field with the unlikely figures of 4-7, while Iris Zwilling took 3-15. Carlijn van Koolwijk (1-8) took her first T20I wicket.

Iris Zwilling (13 not out) and especially Heather Siegers showed that they wanted to pass the 73 runs quickly. Siegers (47 from eighteen balls) hit one ball after another – five fours and three sixes – and was unfortunately caught just before her fifty. In just over six overs, France took the lead.

The cracker against Scotland is scheduled for Monday at 3:30 PM. If they win, the Dutch team is the tournament winner. In the event of a loss, the net run rate is decisive. Regardless of the result, both teams have qualified for the Global Qualifier that will be organized in early 2024.
