The partnership between KNCB and Fairtree started in 2021. Fairtree has long invested in the development of grassroots cricket. The company expanded its focus in 2018 by partnering with Gary Kirsten Cricket (GKC), a leading cricket academy founded by international cricket legend Gary Kirsten. Fairtree is GKC’s primary partner and shares the organisation’s ambition to create an environment where players can reach their full potential.

The Dutch cricket team is led by captain Scott Edwards and head coach Ryan Cook. Gary Kirsten very recently – ahead of the group stage matches for the World Cup T20 in Australia – joined the coaching staff of the Netherlands, along with former Australian all-rounder Dan Christian.

Kobus Nel, Group CEO of Fairtree, who has a longstanding passion for cricket, comments: “We are proud to be the official partner of the Dutch men’s cricket team and to support them in their mission to progress to the second round in the upcoming T20 World Cup, and we wish the team every success in their final preparations.”

“Cricket is a fantastic sport that connects people from all backgrounds. The KNCB’s vision to further develop cricket in the Netherlands and to unite all Dutch cricket fans remains a cornerstone of our collaboration. There are so many life lessons to learn from the sport. I am convinced that it is important for companies to get involved in the development of cricket in the Netherlands and around the world to enable more young talented players to develop and, as individuals and as players, reach their potential and fulfill their life calling,” he adds.

The Dutch cricket team is in Group A and will face the United Arab Emirates, Namibia and Sri Lanka in the group stage matches on October 16, 18 and 20 respectively. Of those, the top two teams advance to the second round, the Super 12.
