The Netherlands has participated in the 50-over World Cup four times: in 1996, 1999, 2003 and 2011. A total of twenty matches were played in the group stage, of which the Netherlands won two.

In 1994, the Netherlands qualified for the 50 over Cricket World Cup for the first time in history. At the 1996 CWC in India and Pakistan, they competed against New Zealand, South Africa, England, Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates. Although the team did not win any of these encounters, the Dutch made an impression against England (279-230).

In 1997, the Dutch team failed to qualify for the 1999 World Cup, but in 2001 the team won the ICC Trophy, qualifying for the 2003 World Cup in South Africa. 204 all out, but it was unable to top that meager score. The Orange did book its first ever World Cup victory over Namibia, when Feiko Kloppenburg and Klaas-Jan van Noortwijk made the first two World Cup centuries.

In 2007, the Dutch took part in the World Cup in the West Indies, with a victory over Scotland (136-140/2).

The last World Cup appearance was in 2011, when – despite two centuries of Ryan Ten Doeschate – the Netherlands was defeated by England (292/6-296/4) and Ireland (306-307/4).

The Netherlands failed to qualify for the 2015 and 2019 Cricket World Cups.
