One of the driving forces behind the recent successes of the Dutch men’s team is sponsor Fairtree, an investment company that has its roots in South Africa, but also has major interests in Europe. Fairtree is also closely associated with the Gary Kristen Cricket Academy in Cape Town. A few years ago, Kobus Nel became acquainted with Dutch cricket. Since then, significant steps have been taken towards a more professional set-up and cricket infrastructure. An exclusive interview with the Fairtree Group CEO.

What is the philosophy behind the Fairtree sponsorship?

“Fairtree, a global investment firm with its roots in South Africa, has long invested in the development of cricket at grassroots level and expanded its focus in 2018 by partnering with Gary Kirsten Cricket (GKC), a leading cricket academy based in South Africa. was founded by international cricketing legend Gary Kirsten.”

“In 2021 we entered into a partnership with the Royal Dutch Cricket Association. As a global company, we are proud to be the official partner of the Dutch men’s cricket team and actively support the KNCB’s vision to develop cricket in the Netherlands. This aligns with our mission to create an environment where individuals can thrive and reach their full potential.”

Why did Fairtree choose to specifically support Dutch cricket?

“Over the years we have been inspired by the personal and professional growth of the members of the Dutch men’s team. We are convinced that their success stems from their unwavering passion and focus. Cricket is above all teamwork, with each player’s contribution combining to achieve a result that is greater than the sum of its parts. Every time the Dutch men take the field we see that team spirit and we see them proudly representing their country as they compete at the highest level.”

“Their recent successes, especially at the T20 World Cup and recent ODI victory over the West Indies, we believe are the result of hard work, dedication and team spirit. We are confident that the team will continue to exceed expectations, also through excellent coaching and sponsor support. The outstanding performances at the T20 World Cup in 2022 and subsequent competitions, including the historic victory over the West Indies earlier this week, convinces us of their dedication and their unwavering passion.”

“It is an honor to be part of the development journey of both the individual players and the team as they continue to fuel the growth of cricket in the Netherlands. Cricket is a great sport that unites people from different backgrounds. The vision of the KNCB to promote the game in the Netherlands while at the same time encouraging unity among all cricket-loving Dutch people remains an important pillar of our cooperation.”
