Ryan Cook has extended his contract as head coach of the Netherlands men’s cricket team. The Royal Netherlands Cricket Association (KNCB) is pleased to extend and expand its partnership with Ryan Cook. He will continue to lead the team and further strengthen the momentum that has been built up over the past few years.

In addition to his role as head coach, Cook will also take on the responsibilities of High Performance Technical Director. He will work on the further professionalization of the high-performance organization, including the design of a long-term high-performance strategy and structure for national teams and A-teams, in close collaboration with the head coach and coaching staff of the women.

Cook will also oversee the implementation of the philosophy and working method within the Academy, design a trajectory for coaches and advise on the creation of a sustainable Academy infrastructure, including a talent insight and recognition system. The KNCB looks forward to continuing the valuable collaboration with Ryan Cook and his staff.

Since Ryan Cook took office in 2022, the Netherlands has achieved remarkable successes. The Dutch men’s team made global sports news at the end of 2022 by beating South Africa at the T20 World Cup in Australia.

Furthermore, in the summer of 2023, the Dutch team spectacularly qualified for the ICC Cricket World Cup in India in October of that year, among others by beating Scotland and two-time world champions West Indies. During the World Cup, the Netherlands defeated top countries South Africa and Bangladesh.

Ryan Cook: “It is a privilege to coach such an ambitious group of players who are super eager to learn and have the work ethic to grow. We have forged a close-knit group who have achieved many things together in recent years. I look forward to leading this group to even greater heights – together with a great support staff. The future of Dutch cricket can be stronger with improved systems and structures. I look forward to working with the KNCB to shape a Dutch approach that goes beyond the successes of the national men’s team.”
