The first European Women’s T10 Championship will be held in Spain from December 17 to 22, 2023. In Malaga, the Netherlands will face Spain, Italy, England XI and Austria.

Daniel Weston, founder of organizer ECN, is excited about the upcoming event: “It is a great moment for us and European cricket. The launch of the ECC-W is not just a tournament, but represents a vision and opportunity for countless female cricketers in Europe. It is a historic event that will boost the development of women’s cricket in Europe.”

Jeremy Bray, interim head coach of the Dutch women, comments: “After successfully qualifying for the T20 World Cup Global Qualifier, the Dutch women are looking forward to being back on the field in December for the ECC-W T10 tournament in Malaga.”

“The ladies have been working hard over the past few months, training two to three times a week on skill development and fitness, to be as prepared as possible for the intense T10 cricket.”

“Since several players are developing their cricket in the southern hemisphere this winter (some well-known names are missing from the Dutch selection, including Heather Siegers, Sterre Kalis, Babette de Leede and Frédérique Overdijk, ed.), this tournament offers a wonderful opportunity for other players to put themselves in the spotlight and have a chance of being selected for the Global T20 World Cup qualifiers next year.”

“Follow the Dutch women, because we will see some real standouts in this tournament. The team will be led by the player of the European T20 World Cup qualifying tournament in Iris Zwilling, who is undergoing enormous development as a player, says Bray.”

“We are grateful for the support and endorsement by the ICC. We further thank John Howden of Cricket España for his continued support and for making this event possible as the host country.”
