National coach Ryan Cook has announced his selection for the Dutch cricket team that will participate in the World 50 Overs Championship in October and November. The Netherlands will play against nine top countries, including host country India, Pakistan, England, Australia, South Africa and New Zealand.

The Netherlands reached the final round by beating Scotland and two-time world champions the West Indies in a very strong qualifying tournament in July.

The selection will remain in Bangalore for the final phase of its preparation for the World Cup. The last training camp will be held there from September 20 to 27. There will also be two practice matches against the Karnataka State team on September 25 and 27. The KNCB has received a lot of support from the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in the realization of this training camp and would especially like to thank its CEO Shubendhu Gosh for his hard work.

The selection will stay in Trivandrum from September 28. There it will play two official World Cup warm-up matches. Australia will be the opponent at the Greenfield Stadium on September 30, while the Netherlands will end the practice campaign with a match against the host country India on October 3. The first match of the World Cup is Friday, October 6 in Hyderabad against Pakistan.

Ryan Cook looks back on the past period. “Our preparation for the World Cup started shortly after qualifying in Zimbabwe. Because no competitions were planned, we had the opportunity to complete various scenarios during the summer. With a full group and staff, we have been able to train a lot and in a very focused manner in recent months and work on our goals for the World Cup.”

Cook and the selection committee have seen that the commitment has been enormous. “The extensive selection group has shown at home and abroad that we have grown. Real progress has been made and we have seen that during the high level during training and competitions. There is a balanced selection, a great mix of young and experienced players. But above all, a close-knit group that wants to show the best of themselves, both within the team and on the field.”

Van Uffelen dresses the Dutch selection

Today (September 7), the KNCB also signed a two-year sponsorship contract with fashion company Van Uffelen. The Dutch cricket team was fitted with its clothing; During the World Cup in India, large distances will have to be covered and it will be nice to wear comfortable clothing.

With a wide range of women’s, men’s and children’s clothing and more than 50 stores throughout the Netherlands, Van Uffelen is no stranger to the sports world. For example, the fashion company dresses the men of Vitesse and Go Ahead Eagles, the women of PSV and the men of Dynamo Topvolleybal.

Pieter Cox, CEO Van Uffelen: It is truly an honor that we can dress these top athletes and their staff over the next two years, so that they can soon be very representative at official occasions and major sporting events such as the World Cup in India.”
