The KNCB announces its selection of Netherlands A that will play three T20s against Italy on May 23, 24 and 25. VRA (May 23) and Voorburg CC (May 24 and 25) will host the matches.
The selection is led by the experienced Sebastiaan Braat and has nine players with international experience.
Three players from the national side – Vikramjit Singh, Shariz Ahmed and Teja Nidamanuru – will feature in one of the three T20s, while Saqib Zulfiqar will be available for the first and third matches.
After a strong start to the club season, Shirase Rasool and Alex Roy join the roster alongside recent ‘A’ Team debutants Noah Croes and Michael Levitt, who will be looking to further prove themselves.
Captain Braat on the series: “We are looking forward to playing this series, this time against a strong Italian side. We have a young and powerful squad with players who are ready for this challenge.”
Pierce Fletcher, head coach of Netherlands A: “This series offers the Netherlands A-team in development more time to learn and compete against strong European opposition with the ambition to take the final step to the national team.”
Of the selection, Fletcher said: “I am very much in favor of us rewarding good performances as we are currently seeing in club competitions and the Fairtree ProSeries. That is why Shirase, Alex and Michael are given opportunities in this series”.
Italy is preparing for the ICC T20 World Cup European Qualifier which will take place in Scotland later in the summer.
It promises to be an exciting series with free admission for the public.
