Cricket NSW has today praised the NSW Government’s 2021-22 NSW Budget commitment to investing more than $450 million in additional funding over four years in the sport and active recreation sector.

The investment is designed to provide new and improved sports facilities across the State, enabling record numbers of people to be healthy and active.

This investment is headlined by the establishment of a new $200 million Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund and $150 million for a new Centres of Excellence Program.

CNSW CEO Lee Germon said the funding will create the ability for even more people to play and love cricket.

“The Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund is a wonderful initiative to fund improved inclusive and accessible infrastructure that meet the needs of females and people with disability,” Germon said.

“This is an area we are also committed to through our recently released Infrastructure Strategy and anything we can do to increase the ability for people to play our game is welcomed.

“We also applaud the Centres of Excellence Program and the support it will provide the development of sporting community centres for greater high-performance training and development opportunities that the community can access.”

The Multi-Sport Community Facility Fund will offer funding through a competitive grants process which will require a minimum co-contribution from applicants with $100 million available in 2021-22 and $100 million available in 2022-23.
