Gavan Twining, the head coach of the NSW Women’s Team, will leave the Breakers this month after accepting an assistant coaching role with the Australian Women’s Team.
Twining, who is in his fourth season leading the Breakers, will finish up with the team after their WNCL double header against Tasmania on Saturday and Monday.
Current Breakers assistant Grant Lambert has been appointed interim head coach for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.
Cricket NSW Head of Female Elite Cricket, Leah Poulton, praised Twining’s contribution to not only the Breakers, but the development of talent across cricket in the state.
“Gav has put his heart and soul into our program over the last four years and across other programs at Cricket NSW before that,” Poulton said.
“He has played a major role in developing our next generation of players, with the likes of Phoebe Litchfield going on to play for Australia and Tahlia Wilson for Australia A, while Gav was at the helm.
“While we are sad to see Gav leave our program, we wish him well with the Australian team, knowing he has our full support in taking on a new opportunity.
“Gav leaving provides Grant Lambert with an opportunity to step up as the head coach of the Breakers. ‘Lambos’ has been around this group for a number of years under Gav and that will provide great stability for the squad in the back half of the summer.”
The Breakers squad for the pair of matches against Tasmania will be announced on Thursday.
