Peter Ross’s U19 squad arrived safely into South Africa this week and got down to business straight away with a tough first training session at Steyn City School.

16 teams will participate in the inaugural U19’s Women’s T20 World Cup and Scotland will kick off their first Group D match versus UAE on 14th January at Willowmoore Park in Benoni at 10am (GMT). They then play South Africa on Monday 16th at 11.45am (GMT) and finish off the group stages versus India on Wednesday 18th at 11.45am (GMT).

The top three teams from each group will then progress to the Super Six round, which will consist of two groups of six. If Scotland qualify, they will move to Group 1 which will comprise of three teams, each from Groups A and D.

Head Coach Peter Ross recognises the challenge facing the squad but also has encouraged the players to enjoy themselves and be proud of being part of this historic event, commenting “They will have the privilege of being the first Scottish female cricket team to ever participate in a World Cup and that is something which they can be proud of forever.

“It is scheduled to be a brilliant tournament that will provide a number of opportunities for these players to learn more about themselves as people and as developing cricketers.”

Information on streaming of the matches will be released by ICC in the coming days.
