Scotland Women were named Team of the Year at the Scottish Sports Awards in Glasgow on Wednesday, capping a hugely successful 2024 in style.

Pipping Glasgow Warriors and Celtic Women to the coveted prize, this award adds to Scotland’s Team of the Year award picked up at the recent Scottish Women In Sport Awards.

Lifting the most prestigious accolade in Scottish team sport is recognition for the squad’s success this year, following their historic first-ever qualification for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

Captain Kathryn Bryce, who along with sister Sarah flew back to Scotland from Australia on the morning of the awards ceremony following their recent stint in the WBBL, accepted the award on behalf of the squad. Kathryn and Sarah were accompanied by parents James and Susan Bryce, teammates Abtaha Maqsood and Nayma Sheikh, Head Coach Craig Wallace, Assistant Coach Joe Kinghorn-Gray and Cricket Scotland CEO Trudy Lindblade at the ceremony at the star-studded ceremony held at the Glasgow Science Centre.

Kathryn was also one of three nominees for Female Athlete of the Year, an award won by Olympic bronze medal-winning triathlete Beth Potter, while Nayma was shortlisted for Young Athlete of the Year, won by world champion kickboxer Aidan Lennan.
