Scotland stars Calum MacLeod, Safyaan Sharif and George Munsey have all signed for the Kent Spitfires for the final two matches of the Vitality Blast South Group taking place this week.

The trio, who were all named in Shane Burger’s 40-man squad preparing for the T20 World Cup this week, will be available for the trip to Lord’s to face Middlesex on Friday (16 July) and for the visit of Sussex Sharks to The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence on Sunday (18 July).

MacLeod has made 120 T20 appearances in his career to date including Vitality Blast stints with Durham, Derbyshire and Sussex Sharks, and has scored 2,938 runs at an average of 28.52. Sharif has featured in 42 IT20s, also played for Derbyshire in the 2018 Vitality Blast. He has a career bowling strike rate of 17.54 in T20 cricket. While left-hander George Munsey is known for his explosive hitting, and in making 1,231 runs in T20 cricket from his 50 career appearances at 27.97, the 28-year-old has a batting strike rate of 154.64.

Scotland Head Coach Burger said: “I’m really excited for Calum, Safyaan and George that Kent require their services for the upcoming games. They’re all in excellent form currently and none of them are strangers to the county set up, so I’m sure it’ll be great for them to get back into that environment. This is a great opportunity for them to show what they’re all about and I know they’ll make the most of it.”

Kent’s Director of Cricket, Paul Downton, said: “It has been a difficult week as we have sought to put a competitive T20 side together to fulfil our commitments following the isolation of our whole Vitality Blast squad this week.

The match against Middlesex will be live streamed and can be viewed on the Middlesex website here
