Cricket Scotland: West Indies legends visit Glasgow as Antigua and Barbuda welcomes Scotland’s appearance at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup

Cricket Scotland, formerly the Scottish Cricket Union, is the governing body for cricket in Scotland, based at the National Cricket Academy in Edinburgh. Established in 1908 and restructured in 2001, it became an ICC Associate Member in 1994. The organization includes three sub-associations: the East of Scotland Cricket Association, Western District Cricket Union, and Aberdeenshire Cricket Association.

Cricket Scotland is pleased to partner with the Antigua and Barbuda Tourism Authority, ahead of an exclusive celebration event for Scottish fans to mark the Scotland Men’s team’s qualification for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

The event, held at the iconic Drygate Brewery in Glasgow on Wednesday 24 April, will showcase Antigua’s unique blend of cricket and culture and star West Indies cricketing legends Sir Curtly Ambrose, Sir Richie Richardson, and Sir Andy Roberts, as well as members of the Scotland Men’s national squad.

Scottish cricket fans will have a unique opportunity to rejoice in their team’s qualification while experiencing a taste of the upcoming tournament, and the host nation’s vibrant Caribbean culture and cricketing spirit.

The cricketing knights, Sir Curtly Ambrose, Sir Richie Richardson, and Sir Andy Roberts will feature alongside members of the Scotland Men’s squad, plus board members, official partners, and guests, to celebrate the twin island nation’s rich cricketing legacy and its role as a host of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, as well as more exciting cricketing events throughout the year.

The highlight of the evening will a performance by the acclaimed Caribbean band Spirited, featuring cricket icons Sir Richie Richardson and Sir Curtly Ambrose. Guests will enjoy a Caribbean-inspired drinks reception and buffet, carefully curated to showcase the rich culinary heritage of the islands.

There will also be a Q&A session with the cricketing royalty, hosted by ICC commentator Andrew Leonard, giving guests an exclusive opportunity to get up close and personal with the knights who’ll share insights from their illustrious careers. Fans will have the chance to meet Scottish players on the night and have photos captured with their cricketing heroes.

The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup takes place from 1-30 June 2024, with Antigua and Barbuda playing host to eight exciting matches at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. Cricket legend Sir Richie Richardson invites fans worldwide to experience the tournament, which he assures will be “Out of this World.”

Known proudly as the ‘Year of Cricket’ for Antigua & Barbuda, the twin island nation also looks forward to hosting the exhilarating FairBreak Women’s T20 event in July and the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL24) between August 28 and October 6, introducing the Antigua & Barbuda Falcons. Additionally, the England Men’s squad will tour the West Indies for a white ball series in November, with matches expected in Antigua and across the Caribbean.
