Scotland Women’s begin their World Cup qualifying campaign against the Netherlands tomorrow as they look to play their way to a top-two finish in the tournament in order to progress to the global qualifying event.

With the announcement that Turkey had withdrawn from the series this morning, Scotland’s matches have been rescheduled and their programme reduced to four matches over the next five days.

The team has had good preparation with a camp in Stirling over the weekend and a day at the venue today.

Head Coach Mark Coles is clear that his side have come to win the tournament: “I want to win, that’s why we’re here,” said the Kiwi.

“It’s a great place, but we’re not here to sit by the pool and drink martinis. We’re here to win the tournament. We will have to be at our best but I think we’re in good shape.

“We played against a couple of boys teams in Stirling over the weekend and got a couple of wins. We’ve adopted a really enjoyable policy among the group – it’s about having fun and being purposeful and being together. Those are the three words we’re sticking by as a team this week. Whatever happens in T20 cricket happens, but we’ve got some decent plans.

All of Scotland’s matches will be live streamed free for viewers in Europe on icc.tv.

The revised schedule of matches is as follows (all times local to Spain):

26 August 2021 – Netherlands v Scotland (10:30); Ireland v Germany (10:30); France v Netherlands (15:30)
27 August 2021 – Germany v France (10:30); Ireland v Scotland (10:30); Netherlands v Germany (15:30)
28 August 2021 – Rest Day
29 August 2021 – France v Ireland (10:30); Scotland v Germany (10:30)
30 August 2021 – Netherlands v Ireland (10:30); Scotland v France (10:30)
