Coinciding with the United Nations International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the ICC today announced Scotland Women’s U19’s as the European winners of the ICC Associate Member’s Women’s Performance of the Year for their performance versus Netherlands on 11th August in the qualifying tournament for the ICC Women’s U19 World Cup.

Scotland produced their highest ever T20I score of 223/2 and won by 123 runs, also confirming their qualification for their first ever female World Cup. Both opening batters, Ailsa Lister and Darcey Carter scored centuries (111 from 58 balls and 103 not out from 55 balls) putting on an opening partnership of 204.

Speaking about the award, Scotland Women’s Head Coach Peter Ross said ” It is an amazing achievement for the Scotland Women U19’s to win the ICC Associate Member’s Women’s Performance of the Year award.

“This award is testament to the talent and potential that exists within the female pathway in Scotland, as well as the hard work from all players and staff to qualify for the inaugural U19 Women’s World Cup.

“The qualifying tournament in the Netherlands was a career highlight – the quality of cricket which we played was incredible, showcased by two breath-taking hundreds from Ailsa Lister and Darcey Carter in that final game. The U19 squad are a brilliant group to work with and totally deserving of this accolade.”

Scotland will join five other countries as nominees for the global award which will be announced later this year.
