Cricket South Africa (CSA) governs cricket in South Africa. Formed in 2002, it succeeded the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCB) and became the sole governing body in 2008. CSA oversees all levels of cricket, including national teams for men and women, and is a full ICC member and SASCOC affiliate.

Cricket South Africa (CSA) is pleased to announce the upcoming Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Indaba, taking place from 26 to 28 July 2024 in Tshwane.

This pivotal event will revisit the resolutions from the 2018 Transformation Indaba and assess the progress made by the cricket ecosystem over the past five years.

The Indaba will gather thought leaders and cricket professionals, including players and player management, to explore strategies for advancing DEI initiatives within the sport. The 16 CSA affiliates will be represented by DEI Chairpersons, CEOs, Cricket Services Managers (CSMs), Coaches, and Developers, among other stakeholders.

Key discussions will include selection patterns or trends and quality of opportunities, development approaches from grassroots to professional levels, organisational leadership and diversity, equity, and inclusion, the DSAC Transformation Charter, and sustainability of cricket in South Africa.

CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki, commented;

“We are excited to host this Indaba, bringing together key stakeholders to engage in meaningful dialogue and collaborative efforts to enhance diversity, equity, and inclusion in South African cricket.

“This event marks a significant step in our commitment to creating a cricket environment where every individual feels valued and has the opportunity to thrive. CSA looks forward to the insights and outcomes from this Indaba, driving the sport towards a more inclusive and equitable future,” Moseki continued.

“CSA is committed to promoting an inclusive cricket ecosystem that reflects the diversity and excellence of the nation. The DEI Indaba represents a crucial initiative in this ongoing journey towards equity and inclusion,” Moseki concluded.

Lead Independent Director and DEI Chairperson, Ms. Muditambi Ravele shared her sentiments;

“Through our 2023 roadshow and stakeholder joint discussions, we identified critical issues and set actionable recommendations. What emerged was a need for a dedicated Transformation Committee, fostering oversight and dialogue among members on their transformation journey.

“This resulted in our DEI Indaba, where we aim to pave CSA’s path forward with a focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, anchored in the essence of Belonging. We eagerly anticipate profound deliberations and resolutions, shaping a future of inclusivity and diversity within the cricket ecosystem.”
