The Role
We are currently seeking to appoint a part time (0.6FTE) Sports Performance Dietitian to manage and lead Victoria’s Sports Nutrition Program for the Women’s and Men’s programs, whilst ensuring alignment with Cricket Victoria’s objectives and in accordance with the Australian Cricket SSSM Principles and best practice.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Develop and manage individualised performance nutrition and body composition plans for all contracted male and female players.
- Consult with players promptly and provide a “Return to Play” nutrition plan where players have sustained an injury that impacts on training status.
- Hydration:
– Develop individual and team hydration plans for trainings and matches.
– Ensure each team is adhering to best practice hydration monitoring practices around training sessions and matches.
– Ensure feedback from hydration data collected in matches and training is provided in a timely manner to players to assist with necessary changes to hydration strategies. - Development and implementation of performance nutrition systems within existing State Association training and match day facilities (i.e. recovery stations (fixed and portable), hydration stations etc.) to ensure player access to appropriate nutrient support and hydration options pre, during and post sessions.
- Development and provision of catering guidelines to grounds, and hotels (where required), prior to home and away matches and liaising with catering staff to ensure appropriate items are provided.
- Attend regular SSSM, case management and performance meetings within the State Association
- Liaise with the following stakeholders in anti-doping matters: State Medical Officer, Cricket Australia Medical Officer, Cricket Australia Anti-Doping Medical Officer, Cricket Australia SSSM Manager, Cricket Australia Lead Sports Performance Dietitian, Cricket Australia Head of Integrity, and other treating practitioners (including physiotherapists, general practitioners, consultants and overseas practitioners as applicable).
About You
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years working with elite athletes or teams in a high performance environment. They will have a strong ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with a diverse group of players and coaches, as well as within a multidisciplinary SSSM team. Ultimately the successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine passion to deliver a world class, evidence-based sports nutrition program to both our female and male athletes to aid performance and minimise injury.
To be considered, you will meet the below criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in Bachelor of Human Nutrition (or similar discipline)
- Accredited Practicing Dietitian status with Dietitians Association of Australia
- Accredited Member of Sports Dietitians Australia
- A minimum of 3 years working as a Sports Dietitian with elite and development athletes within a High-Performance Program
- Current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
