The Role

We are currently seeking to appoint a Talent Development Specialist who is accountable for the alignment, promotion, implementation and delivery of the Victorian male player and coach pathway. This includes the delivery of coach development activities along with the communication and implementation of talented player processes across the various playing opportunities.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Coach within CV’s Emerging Players Program and utilise your expertise and experience to enhance the technical, tactical and mental skills of players in our youth programs.
  • Head/Assistant Coach a Vic Metro or Vic Country team; overseeing their development, selection and preparation as well as competition phase at Cricket Australia National Championships.
  • Continue to develop a specialty coaching focus area within your coaching acumen that can work across various programs within CV’s Cricket Performance department.
  • Continually monitor players’ development through their Individual Player Plans and also providing assessments/feedback via Youth Player Reports on AMS – pre-Championship and post-Championship.
  • Lead and support Premier Cricket clubs to develop quality youth programs that enhance talent development.
  • Create a community of practice with key coaching/junior development stakeholders at Premier Cricket clubs to share best practice and continual learning.
  • Lead the network of coaches to ensure talent identification metrics are collected and meet CV Cricket Performance timelines.
  • As part of the talent development team, help to support the connection between talented country cricketers and premier cricket. This might involve occasional travel to support Country Cup academies and identify talented players at the Country Cup.
  • Utilise High Performance systems within Australian Cricket to streamline the data collected on talented players that will step into CV Emerging Players Program.
  • Mentor and develop coaches working within CV’s Emerging Players Programs to enhance their knowledge and challenge thinking, so that an environment of continuous improvement is maintained.

About You

The successful candidate will have experience working with athletes, either within an educational or sporting environment, and particularly in identifying and developing young talent. They will have demonstrated experience in managing stakeholders and possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team. Above all else, the successful candidate will have a genuine passion to identify and develop successful male cricketers and enhance the technical, tactical and mental skills of male players in our youth programs.

To be considered, you will meet the below criteria:

  • Representative (Level 2) Coach Accreditation
  • Tertiary qualifications in Education, Sports Management or similar desirable
  • Experience working with athletes either within an educational or sporting environment
  • Demonstrable coaching experience with individuals and teams
  • Experience in athlete talent identification and development processes
  • Experience in managing stakeholders and strong communication skills
  • Current Victorian Employee Working with Children Check
  • Current Victoria Driver’s License
