Cricket West Indies (CWI) governs cricket across the West Indies, a confederation of Caribbean countries. Originally established as the West Indies Cricket Board of Control in the 1920s, it became the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) in 1996 and was rebranded as Cricket West Indies in May 2017 as part of a restructuring effort.

Cricket West Indies today sent special birthday greetings to Sir Vivian Richards, as the legendary batsman celebrates his 69th birthday. During his amazing career Sir Viv was hailed as the best in the world. He made 8,540 runs in 121 Tests at an average of 50.23 runs per innings. His top score was 291 against England in 1976.

He also played 187 ODIs and made 6,721 runs at an average of 47, with a top score of 189 not out also against England. One of his most famous performances came in the 1979 World Cup final against England at Lord’s when he score 138 not out to win the Man-of-the-Match award.
