Cricket West Indies (CWI) governs cricket across the West Indies, a confederation of Caribbean countries. Originally established as the West Indies Cricket Board of Control in the 1920s, it became the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) in 1996 and was rebranded as Cricket West Indies in May 2017 as part of a restructuring effort.

Members of the West Indies team recently got words of wisdom and well wishes from Dr Keith Mitchell, Prime Minister of Grenada. The team was hosted to a special dinner event while on the Spice Isle for the Colonial Medial ODI Series and the Sandals Resorts T20I Series.

The Prime Minister gave a special welcome back to talismanic allrounder Dwayne Bravo who made a return to the team after three years. He announced his intention to come out of retirement late last year and marked his return to the international stage earlier this week.

The event was organized by Rawl Lewis, manager of the West Indies team and former Grenada national team captain. Also in attendance was Daren Sammy, the two-time captain of the champion West Indies team – which won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2012 and 2016.

Prime Minister Mitchell spoke to the team saying,

I am happy to have you here on my beautiful island of Grenada, and I want to wish each and everyone the very best. You’re doing a great job of representing the people of the West Indies. I urge you to keep up the good work. We are seeing the signs… we are seeing improvement, we are seeing more successes….you are growing as a team and as individuals.
