Cricket South Africa (CSA) governs cricket in South Africa. Formed in 2002, it succeeded the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCB) and became the sole governing body in 2008. CSA oversees all levels of cricket, including national teams for men and women, and is a full ICC member and SASCOC affiliate.

Northern Cape Cricket is very proud to announce the appointment of Mark Charlton as the Head Coach of the Northern Cape professional team for the 2021/22 and 2022/23 seasons. His assistant will be Deon Carolus.

Charlton is a former Northerns Senior Provincial Coach who also worked with the Momentum Multiply Titans. He is a Level 4 Cricket South Africa (CSA) certificated coach and has many years of experience in the high-performance space and was named the CSA Provincial Coach of the Year in 2017.

He has played an instrumental role in all platforms of South African cricket and is vastly experienced. His previous roles include High-Performance Manager, CSA National Academy Assistant Coach, CSA U19 Women’s Selector as well as being involved in club cricket in the Northerns region.

Assistant Coach, Carolus has been in the Northern Cape set up as both a player and coach, having coached here for three years, and brings all his experience to the support staff.

“I am very excited to accept my new challenge as coach of Northern Cape Cricket in the new CSA domestic structure,” said Charlton.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for cricket in the area and as a team we will do our utmost to be competitive. I would like to express my thanks and appreciation to the Titans and Northerns for all the opportunities they afforded me.”

Acting President of Northern Cape Cricket, Gibson Molale added: “On behalf of Northern Cape Cricket, we would like to welcome Mark Charlton to our fold as the Head Coach of our professional team. It is our wish that Mark and Deon add value to our system and that the other coaches in our system tap into their vast knowledge and experiences. I wish them well for the campaigns ahead.”
