Eastern Province Cricket is proud to host the KFC Mini Cricket Festival, which will be held on Saturday, 20 August, at St. George’s Cricket Stadium, in Gqeberha.

The festival will host 512 mini cricketers, as well as 70 coaches from Nelson Mandela Bay and the Sarah Baartman District, starting at 10h00.

Cricket South Africa, in partnership with the programme sponsor KFC, is celebrating 40 years of Mini Cricket, and what better than to host festivals across all 16 affiliates of Cricket South Africa, on the same day.

Mini Cricket is about fun, but it has been evident over the years that the programme has had a huge impact in teaching young ones the basics and introducing them to this wonderful game called cricket.

It has also changed the lives of many kids, coaches, and even administrators. It is such an honour to host the mini cricket players and their parents at the iconic St George’s Cricket Stadium. The KFC mini cricket players will meet their local heroes The Warriors, the Eastern Province Ladies and Academy teams.

“It is a real honour and privilege to host the KFC Mini Cricket festival at St Georges to celebrate 40 years of mini cricket in the country. We are all aware of the value of this programme as it has produced so many Provincial and National players,” says Eastern Province Cricket CEO Eugene Jacobs.

“This programme is the heart and soul of the cricket development continuum, and it has such values as fun and enjoyment as the pillars. My sincere thanks and appreciation to the staff, players, parents, coaches and educators who contribute so much to the success of this Programme,” he says.
