Cricket South Africa (CSA) congratulates the Momentum Proteas for their triumphant displays against Ireland in both the T20 International (T20I) and One-Day International (ODI) series, winning the contests 2-1 and 3-0 respectively in Dublin.

Despite going down in the opening game of the tour, the Proteas Women bounced back in a superb manner, claiming two eight-wicket victories to seal the T20I series before a clean sweep in the 50-over format that featured consecutive nine-wicket wins and a 189-run victory on Friday.

The ODI success also means South Africa begin their 2022-2025 ICC Women’s Championship campaign, with three wins out of three and a maximum of six points.

Congratulating the Proteas on their win, CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki said:

“In a continuation of last season’s performances, the Momentum Proteas showed once again why they are an elite outfit in world cricket with another clinical display with bat and ball throughout the tour to Ireland.

“Notwithstanding the first T20I where the Irish side showed great passion to earn a monumental win at home, the team showed great character to recover in style and showcase their skills and quality after acclimatizing to the challenging conditions.

“CSA would like to extend their congratulations to every player on tour led by captain Suné Luus and head coach, Hilton Moreeng.”

CSA Board Chairperson, Lawson Naidoo commented:

“The Proteas Women always instil pride in every South African watching them as they carry themselves with class and grace when they don the Proteas shirt and step over the boundary line, with the recently concluded tour to Ireland no different.

“The team have been on an outstanding trajectory over the last few seasons, and it is fantastic to see the side get their 2022 / 23 season underway in the same fashion.

“The Board of Cricket South Africa would also like to express their sincere gratitude to   Cricket Ireland for being gracious hosts and providing our national team with quality facilities and assistance throughout the three-week tour.”
