Cricket South Africa (CSA) congratulates Team South Africa on their courageous showing at the 2022 Commonwealth Games that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July – 08 August.

Team SA achieved a top 10 finish at the 22nd edition of the Games with a total of 27 medals, including 11 bronze, nine silver and seven gold medals.

The Blitzboks (Rugby Sevens), Chad le Clos and Tatjana Schoenmaker (Both Swimming) as well as Akani Simbine (Athletics – 100m), Daryl Impey (Cycling – Road Race) and Michaela Witbooi (Judo) were amongst South Africa’s medallists.

Congratulating Team SA on their display at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, CSA Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki said:

“A huge congratulations to all those who were part of Team SA at this year’s Commonwealth Games. Your fearlessness and dedication shown on the global stage made all those following your progress beam with pride.

“A ninth-place finish in the largest Commonwealth Games ever, with over 70 participating nations, is a notable achievement, and a special mention goes to all the medal-winning athletes for their extraordinary feats that helped further enhance South Africa’s reputation as a major sporting nation.

The Chairperson of the CSA Board, Lawson Naidoo said:

“On behalf of CSA and the Board, I would like to extend the very best wishes to the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (SASCOC), and every organisation and federation that played a part in aiding the athletes to live their dreams of performing at the Commonwealth Games.

“We also salute all personal sacrifice from everyone in Team SA as they strived to see the South African flag raised high, something they attained on no fewer than seven occasions during the passionate medal ceremonies.”
