The Free State Sport Confederation held their annual Sports Awards Function on Friday, 23 September 2022. This was a spectacular evening, arranged by the Free State Sport Confederation under the umbrella of local government, Department Sport, Arts & Culture as well as SASCOC.
Free State Cricket Union is proud to announce that they received the Federation of the Year Award.
The Free State Cricket Union President, Mr. Xander Snyders said: “Receiving the award was a proud moment for Free State Cricket and a highlight in the cricket season. This award was only made possible by the commitment, passion, and hard work of Free State Cricket staff under the leadership of CEO, Johan van Heerden. The accolade will motivate Free State Cricket to perform even better in the coming season. It is an honour for Free State Cricket to have received this award.”
“What a great honour to have been nominated as the best Sporting Federation in the Province and to have won it. It is really something you wish to achieve. We have now seen that you can only try and do the best and face all the challenges head on. That is evident in how our guys have stuck to their guns. We could only change the things that we are in control of, and it went exceptionally well. With a staff compliment of only seventeen people, we are immensely proud to say that we have done the sporting code, cricket, an honour and served it the way we should have. Thank you very much for the honour that was bestowed upon us, we really appreciate it. Be assured that we will look after cricket as a code for future generations to come” said Johan van Heerden, CEO of the Free State Cricket Union.
