Free State Cricket Union won the Provincial Federation of The Year at a glittering Free State Sports, Arts and Culture Awards hosted at Urth Function Hall, North Ridge in Bloemfontein on Saturday night.
As per criteria of the awards, Free State Cricket Union was recognised as, A sports federation that has made the greatest strides to grow women’s sport and developing cricket in all five districts through the introductory level of KFC Mini Cricket and Messo cricket which bridge the gap between soft and hardball cricket. The Women’s Provincial team was promoted from division 2 to division 1 for the upcoming 2023/2024 cricket season.
“We were honoured to be named the Federation of The Year in 2022, the title we have successfully defended at the 2023 Free State Sports Awards. It is pleasing and encouraging that Free State Cricket Union was recognised in this incredible way.” Commented Johan van Heerden, CEO of Free State Cricket Union.
