CSA: Garden Route Badgers Women getting ready for new season

Cricket South Africa (CSA) governs cricket in South Africa. Formed in 2002, it succeeded the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCB) and became the sole governing body in 2008. CSA oversees all levels of cricket, including national teams for men and women, and is a full ICC member and SASCOC affiliate.

The Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers Women’s team has recruited a few new acquisitions for the new season when they will enter the Top 6 competition of the Cricket South Africa provincial women’s competition.

The Momentum Proteas National contracted player, Tazmin Brits, who represented the Proteas in twelve Limited over and 27 T20 matches will join the Badgers in the upcoming season.

The Badgers has also recruited Sibongiseni Ndunana, Amber Botha, Mieke de Ridder (all Eastern Province), Annerie Dercksen (Free State) and Khayakazi Mathe (Border) to boost their line-up.  Dercksen, who hails from Beaufort West is a former SWD Schools player who also represented the SA Emerging team.  Two Cricket SA Emerging squad contracted players namely Jané Winster and Miceala Andrews will also be available for the Badgers.  Desoné Albertyn, Vuyolwethu Bonya, Mariana Breedt, Bianca Figeland, Mochelle May, Marnazelle Rabie, Haroline Rhodes and Julandi Saayman are local players who will form part of the squad.

It was also confirmed that Anver Venter will take over the role as Assistant- and Strength-and-Conditioning Coach of the Badgers for the upcoming season. The Badgers will start their campaign for the new season on 1 October when they take on the Titans in Centurion.
