Cricket South Africa (CSA) governs cricket in South Africa. Formed in 2002, it succeeded the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCB) and became the sole governing body in 2008. CSA oversees all levels of cricket, including national teams for men and women, and is a full ICC member and SASCOC affiliate.

CSA (Cricket South Africa/Company) is the national governing body for the sport of cricket in South Africa and administers all aspects of South African cricket.

A position for a Head of Women’s Cricket has become available. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining and delivering CSA Women’s Cricket strategy, working directly with Head of High Performance and Head of Cricket Pathway to lead all activities related to Women’s Cricket – CSA Members and key stakeholders management in delivering the key strategic milestones required; run key committees and working groups as well as represent CSA and its member at ICC and other women’s institutions, be part of a team within CSA dedicated solely to delivering the cricketing aspects of CSA business – competitions, technical, calendar of events, growth and development and financial and all women related issues.

The more important criteria for the appointment is set out below and although not exhaustive, would serve as a guideline in assessing prospective candidates.

Key job duties/responsibilities:
Key performance areas include but are not limited to the following:
a) Set and lead delivery of the CSA women’s cricket vision and plans.
b) Develop and maintain positive relations with key individuals and members dealing with women’s cricket at ICC and other relevant stakeholders not limited to SASCOC, government institutions or sponsors.
c) Lead the CSA Women’s High Performance Programme (SA U19, Talent Acceleration Programme, and National Academy) under the guidance of the Head of High Performance.
d) Lead the CSA Women’s Domestic Professional League in conjunction with the team that is dedicated to deliver the programme – commercial, marketing, communication, high performance, cricket operations and match officials.
e) Evaluate and influence the future development of competition formats and commercial concepts for women’s provincial competitions (i.e. National and Regional Leagues).
f) Collaborate with the Cricket Services Management in defining and gaining support for programmes aimed at enhancing professionalisation of Women’s Cricket – Head of High Performance, Coach Education, Youth and Tertiary Cricket and Senior Cricket.
g) Pursue to increase the overall prominence of the Women’s game through engaging with key stakeholders to elevate its impact and visibility.
h) Identify additional and maximising existing sources of funding to support the professionalisation of women’s cricket pathway.
a) Lead the budget process for the delivery of women’s cricket – supporting key areas in creating annual budgets in line with achieving the key strategic outcomes.
b) Develop dedicated services and programmes to professional Women’s Teams to address their growing needs.
c) Be knowledgeable and understanding sporting matters facing women, commanding fresh perspectives and ideas to the CSA management team, stimulating internal and external stakeholders about the development of women’s cricket.
d) Continue to review and develop the delivery structure for professional women’s and High Performance cricket programmes to maximise the delivery capability and ensure key objectives are met.
e) Ensure that there are unit plans for Diversity, Inclusion, Equality and Belonging within women’s teams.
f) Ensure that there is prevention of sexual orientation discrimination and create a safe environment for discussions.
g) Serve and act as a secretariat of the CSA Women’s Commission.
h) Provide updates and reports on progress of the strategic plan to CSA management, CSA board subcommittees and CSA Members.
i) Performs such additional functions as may be instructed by the Line Manager from time to time.
j) Ensures that allocated projects as specified by Line Manager are completed and that project deadlines have been met.
k) Ensures that Project delivery does not affect or set back normal deadlines.

Essential requirements pertaining to the candidate’s qualifications and experience:
a) A Diploma in Sports Management and Administration (NQF 6) or an equivalent qualification.
b) A Level III Cricket Coaching Qualification will be an advantage.
c) A minimum of five (5) years related working experience operating in a women cricket environment managing women cricket programmes.
d) A minimum of five (5) years playing and/or Coaching Cricket at Elite Level, either International or Domestic women or men structures.
In addition, the following competencies (skills and behavioural attributes) would be important:
a) Sound knowledge of CSA’s business environment and corporate identity of CSA.

The role will report to the Director of Cricket (DOC). The role requires the ability and willingness to travel, work long hours, over weekends and public holidays where necessary.

The successful candidate will be based at the CSA Centre of Excellence, LC de Villiers Sports Grounds, HPC, Burnett Street, Hatfield, Pretoria.
