Overview of the Sport and Recreational activities
Polokwane Municipality uses the Sport and Recreation activities to promote and market the city. Sport activities are also utilized to stimulate the economic activities through the organization of major sport events such as soccer matches, rugby, cricket matches and golf events. Sport events such as cricket attract more business organization. In Polokwane sport events will always be an investment opportunity in ensuring that the City is promoted as sport and tourism hub in the Limpopo Province.
Maintenance
Polokwane Municipality took over operations of the facility through Community Development Directorate and in 2019 July SBU Sport and Recreation took management and total control of the facility. Partnership in help with maintenance of the Cricket Oval leased to Limpopo Impala Cricket is also a main priority of Polokwane Municipality.

“Polokwane Municipality entered into partnership agreements with Limpopo Impala Cricket to ensure sustainability of the game and growth,” said Manager of Sports and Recreation Mr. Mantlako Sebaka
“We are very delighted to announce that the local Municipality office has agreed to hold hands with Limpopo Impala Cricket, the partnership should be beneficiary to both parties and the society of our province.
The maintenance of facility is critical at all levels, and this should encourage and monitored very close of both parties”.
