Cricket South Africa (CSA) governs cricket in South Africa. Formed in 2002, it succeeded the United Cricket Board of South Africa (UCB) and became the sole governing body in 2008. CSA oversees all levels of cricket, including national teams for men and women, and is a full ICC member and SASCOC affiliate.

The Cricket South Africa (CSA) Schools T20 Challenge finals weekend begins in Pretoria on Friday amid plenty of excitement as the eight teams all arrived for the country’s premier competition on Thursday.

The three-day spectacle will see the franchise representative schools first face off against opponents in their respective groups, before playing cross-pool games. The two teams with the most points after the first two-and-a-half days will contest Sunday afternoon’s final.

Pool A comprises St Stithians College (Imperial Lions), Hoerskool Waterkloof (Momentum Multiply Titans), St Andrews School (VKB Knights) and Queens High School (Inland Focus).

Kearsney College (Hollywoodbets Dolphins), South African College High School or SACS (World Sports Betting Cape Cobras), Grey High School (Warriors) and Graeme College (Coastal Focus) make up Pool B.

“I would like to congratulate the all the regional representatives for making it through the very tough initial stages,” Niels Momberg, Youth and Tertiary Manager, at CSA said. “Being present in Pretoria is an achievement.”

The competition is considered the breeding ground for up and coming talent in South Africa, with CSA looking to cast that net even wider as it continues its focus towards transformation.

The new generation of Proteas superstars like Lungi Ngidi and Janneman Malan as well as the likes of fast bowling superstar Kagiso Rabada and even new Standard Bank Proteas captain Quinton de Kock all started their international journeys at the T20 Schools Challenge.

Momberg added: “Schools cricket is the special bedrock on which much of the success of South African Cricket is built. This event is now in its 11th season and firmly established as the foremost competition for schools on the South African cricket landscape.

“We would like to wish all the teams well for the weekend ahead. May the best team win!”
