After a successful 2022/2023 season, the Six Gun Grill Garden Route Badgers have finalised their women’s squad for 2023/2024 and are looking ahead to another successful campaign.
Head Coach Martelize van der Merwe said, “It is with great excitement that we announce our squad for the coming season. It is exciting to retain the core group from the 2022/2023 season squad that helped us to finish the season third on the log in both the 50 Over and T20 format and retain our position in the Top 6.”
The contracting period saw two new players join the Garden Route Badgers. Right-handed batter, Julia Hoal, and batting all-rounder, Tabitha la Grange makes the move to Oudtshoorn from Boland. Tazmin Brits (National contracted player), and Janè Winster, Annerie Dercksen, Micaéla Andrews and Mieke de Ridder (all CSA High Performance contracts) will again be available for the Badgers. Haroline Rhodes has been rewarded for her performance and was elevated to a semi-professional contract.
Team balance, dynamics and comradery are key considerations when assembling a squad and management will be satisfied that the squad will continue on their performances from the previous season.
